Vijay’s last film Jana Nayagan is facing delays due to pending censor clearance. The team applied for certification last month but the process has been held up.
Recently the makers approached the Madras High Court to resolve the issue. The Censor Board reportedly asked for 27 cuts and the team has already made all the required changes. Even if clearance comes soon, a January 9 release in Tamil now looks uncertain.
Meanwhile advance bookings for the film have opened overseas and are getting an excellent response. However, bookings in Tamil Nadu are still delayed because of the censor problem.
The next court hearing is scheduled for January 9th. The makers are also considering moving the Supreme Court to clear the hurdles and release the film as planned.
This situation has caused anxiety among Vijay fans. Directed by H Vinoth, the action drama is produced by KVN Productions.
